Aqualand is located in the city of Poprad in the north east of Slovakia, one of the most unspoilt, least discovered areas of Europe, yet highly accessible by air, road and rail. Conveniently positioned within just 8 minutes of Poprad international airport, Aqualand is also just 15 minutes’ drive of the dramatic High Tatras Mountains, the world’s smallest mountain range and Europe’s third tallest.
Our fabulous location
Located close to the centre of the town of Poprad and close to picturesque towns and villages, Aqualand enjoys historic surroundings, dramatic mountain scenery and easy access to three of Slovakia’s National Parks, the High Tatras, the `Slovak Paradise’ and Pieniny.
Within just 5 minutes’ walk of Aqualand is the charming town of Spisska Sobota, a timbered village of frescoed houses around a cobbled church square. Just a few kms further on is Kezmarok, one of the centres of the Spis region, rich in history, with an abundance of churches, including the delightful wooden church.
Also nearby is the beautiful medieval walled town of Levoca, with its central town hall, claimed to be the prettiest building in Slovakia, and the church of St. James, home to the largest wooden altar in Europe at 18.6m high.
The nearby High Tatras, the world’s smallest mountain range at just 24kms long, appear to burst skyward, their jagged, often snow-capped peaks towering over the horizon. The High and Low Tatras mountains provide a natural playground for skiers and those in pursuit of active pursuits, as does the Slovak Paradise, national park, with its ladders, chains and walkways, leading visitors deep into gorges, canyons and ravines.
Getting around is easy and inexpensive.
The electric train system takes in the foothills of the High Tatras mountains on a continuous circuit, making it easy and enjoyable to get around, watching the countryside go by through panoramic windows, while travelling on one of the greenest modes of transport..
Buses are plentiful and uncrowded and our concierge and reception staff can advise on bus routes, the quickest way to the nearby train station and local bus and train timetables.
They can also rustle up a taxi in no time at all, for a quick shopping trip to Poprad or further afield.
